Special Town Meeting: Proposed Fire Station Addition
The Town of Nokomis EMS Housing Committee has prepared information on a proposed addition to the Nokomis fire station. The addition would provide code-compliant sleeping, living, and office space for the Oneida County Medic 4 ambulance crew, which serves Nokomis and southwestern Oneida County around the clock. The current station lacks the required fire separation between the apparatus area and sleeping areas, so crews working 24-hour shifts cannot sleep there under state building code. Designed by Keller Inc., the project is estimated at $1.2 million, with the final cost set through competitive bidding, and it would also return office and family-room space to the Fire Department. Town electors will vote on whether to approve the project at a Special Town Meeting.
